Description
Verbena bipinnatifida ‘Valley Lavender®’ is an improved cultivar of the native Great Plains species. Valley Lavender® Verbena, was selected for its exceptionally beautiful purple flowers, its vigor, and improved growth habit. It’s a great xeric garden plant that grows best in poor, fast draining soil (no clay). Fertilize lightly in the fall with Yum Yum Mix fertilizer and water deeply but infrequently once established to help extend the life span of this short-lived perennial. A favorite nectar source for butterflies and native bees, it makes a great companion plant for native ornamental prairie grasses like Little Bluestem Grass (Schizachyrium) and ‘Blonde Ambition’ Blue Grama grass (Bouteloua).
