Description

Achnatherum calamagrostis UNDAUNTED® (Alpine Plume Grass) is a spectacular native of Europe, renowned for its graceful form and prolific summer blooms. This ornamental grass enhances gardens with its striking silver-green flowering spikes that transition to a rich tawny brown in the fall. This plant was introduced by Lauren Springer, thanks to years of garden development, propagations, and hardiness trials. Plants in the UNDAUNTED® series are patented by Lauren Springer. UNDAUNTED® Alpine Plume Grass joined the Plant Select® assortment in 2019.

Achnatherum calamagrostis performs best in the western US (and other higher altitude areas of the country) where summer humidity is low and nights are cool. Flower heads persist from summer until the following spring when the entire plant should be cut back to make room for the new season’s growth. Unlike many other ornamental grasses, the foliage doesn’t die out in the clump’s center over time.
